Today I tried to start my project off of my original design and it did not work out so well. I was not liking the way it was looking, and I was trying to use foil as my skin and it ended up just looking like foil and nothing else. So I knew I needed to change something. After watching the movie about Andy Goldsworthy he inspired me by what he did with the small twigs in the air. He connected them one by one making this spider-web looking design. This is him creating it. So I came up with my own idea using different lengths of wire and connecting them randomly just as the twigs were. I will have to use some kind of very thin wire to connect the pieces probably. Where the pieces form shapes I will fill in random ones with my skin. I haven't completely planned it out yet, i'm not sure what to use for the skin. I'm going to be using all metal, so I want a skin that will go along with that. I also don't want everything to be planned out perfectly because it's going to be a structure that I complete piece by piece and see how I like it and where things should go as I see it. I feel much better about this idea and am excited to get it going. I spent most of the day coming up with the idea, then cutting different lengths of wire and trying to straighten them the best I could. I also like how fast the idea came into my head. Because when I realized that my first idea wasn't working I was king of worried that it would take awhile to come up with something else. Looking around the room and seeing everyone else progressing on their project didn't help any either. I hope that this piece turns out the way I want to, but it might also be good if it doesn't.

So i'm also taking a drawing class, Art 109, and by Monday I have to finish a line drawing that we started in class (which was taking me forever!) and then choose a well known artist and replicate one of their line drawings as closely as possible. If my little line drawing of my watch is taking me so long I can't imagine doing this other drawing. I feel like i'm pretty good at copying something that I see, it just takes me a long time. Hopefully this class will help me with that. It is also going to get me to look at some artists, and maybe i'll have to write about whichever one I choose for this class.

This post is just a bunch of random thoughts. Today I was looking at this website Etsy,
which has a lot of cool things on it, but I was looking at the artwork and I found some paintings that I liked. They're done by Andrada, whom I have never heard of, but I like it.



I know some people would absolutely hate these, because that's just how it is with art, but i'm drawn to the colors and the style of painting. The third one is kind of creepy, the red reminds me of blood, and I pretty much hate anything to do with blood, but for some reason I like it! I've spent enough time here, so I think that this will be it for now. Adios!
